addressing the gathering

The speaker while addressing his speech with PPT on the above occasion on PROGRESS OF AEROSPACE ENGINEERING IN INDIA said that in recent times, the Indian Aerospace industry is witnessing unprecedented growth. The Aerospace industry is engaged in creating a scientific and technological revolution in the country, thereby bringing about tremendous socio-economic progress of the nation. India began its space research program in the 1950’s under the visionary leadership of Dr.Vikram Sarabhai. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is the apex space agency engaged in planning, organizing and executing all research and development activities in the aerospace realm. Its primary objectives include harnessing space technology for national development, pursuing space science research and extraterrestrial exploration. In the last 5 decades, ISRO has made tremendous progress in developing indigenous Rocket Technologies, advanced satellites and launch capabilities. Its Satellite Launch Vehicles program started with projects such as SLV-3 and ASLV, which later progressed to advanced stages like PSLV and GSLV. With our own Launch Vehicles like PSLV and GSLV, today we are capable of placing in orbit heavy satellites having massive applications in communication, television broadcasting and remote sensing. The IRS and INSAT satellites have created a communication revolution in India. India has also created world class launch facilities at its facilities like SHAR, Sriharikota. India’s space research program has been enriched by the contributions of many stalwarts like Vikram Sarabhai, Satish Dhawan, Dr.Brahma Prakash, Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr. Kasturirangan etc.

Continuing his speech, he further said that among other agencies, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) plays a vital role in the advancement of Indian defence aviation through design, manufacture and overhaul of aircraft and its systems. HAL partners ISRO in its space programmes by manufacturing structures and assembling launch vehicles and satellites. HAL has successfully designed, developed and weaponized the advanced light combat aircraft, Tejas, which is currently operated by the defence agenciesas as well as the civil aviation agencies. The Chandrayana, Mangalayana missions as well as Agni, Prthvi and Brahmos missiles are shining examples of India’s advanced aerospace technology capabilities. In the next couple of decades, India will enter into an exciting phase of advancement in Aerospace by working on a reusable launch vehicle, human spaceflight, controlled soft lunar landing, interplanetary probes, and a solar spacecraft mission.
