The Institution of Engineers (India), Andhra Pradesh State Center in association with Efftronics Systems Private Limited, Vijayawada organized World Standards Day at Efftronics Systems Pvt. Ltd, Vijayawada premises. Nearly 20 odd persons have participated in the above Workshop.

Er. CV Sriram, MIE, welcomed the gathering and invited the dignitaries on to the dais while Er. M RS Prakasa Rao, FIE, Former Chairman, IEI, Vijayawada presided over the meeting and introduced the speaker, Er. D Rama Krishna, FIE, Former Chairman, IEI, Vijayawada & Managing Director, M/s. Efftronics Systems Pvt. Ltd, Vijayawada.

The speaker while addressing the members on the above occasion on this year’s theme : INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS AND THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION said that our physical world has become hyper connected and is now rapidly being augmented with a layer of “smartness.” The fourth industrial revolution—like the ones that came before—is driven by new technologies.

• First Industrial Revolution : 1.0 (18th Century) : Mechanical Production Equipment powered by Steam.
• Second Industrial Revolution : 2.0 (19th Century) : Mass production Assembly lines requiring labour and Electrical Energy.
• Third Industrial Revolution : 3.0 (20th Century) : Automated Production using Electronics and Information Technology.
• Fourth Industrial Revolution : 4.0 (Today) : Intelligent Production incorporated with Internet of Things, Cloud Technology & Big-data.

Internet of Things (IoT):

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical things that has the ability to Sense, Communicate, Analyse, Decide and Act. Forces of Disruption:

The Internet of Things (IoT) creates a digital version of physical world devices Digital Business creates new business opportunities through merging physical with the digital world.

Algorithmic Business applies the knowledge and makes business smarter and more powerful.

On 2020 there is 4 Billion Connected people, $4 Trillion Revenue opportunity, 25+ Million Apps, 25+ Billion Embedded and Intelligent Systems, 50 Trillion GBs of Data.

Industry 4.0 focuses on end to end digitalization and automation.

Digital Twin: For Industrial Intelligence that analyzes the past, understands the present, and predicts the future. A digital twin is a virtual representation of a physical object or system across its lifecycle, using real-time data to enable understanding, learning, reasoning and then assists in the decision making process. The digital twin is a simulated digital model that accurately represents a product, production process or the performance of a product or production system in operation.

Capabilities for Digital ERA:

Accountability, Adaptability, Business Acument, Collabration, Conceptual Thinking, Decisiveness, Digital Literacy, Global Mindset, Innovation, Openness to Learn, Results Orientation and Risk Taking.

Lively discussions took place that were answered by the speaker very patently. As a token of remembrance, Certificate of Excellence was given to the speaker, Er. D Rama Krishna, FIE by Dr. Jandhyala Shankar, Former Mayor of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.
